In 1993 I made a journey to Tasmania to meet a young fellow named John Healy who was making a cloth wrapped cheddar, a rare commodity in the early 90’s to find such a cheddar that was not imported from the UK. John and I spent several days travelling around and visiting fellow cheese makers, his dedication and passion was self evident then, as it is now. With a long family history in the dairy industry, Pyengana has gone from strength to strength as the range has expanded but one thing has remained consistant: “great cheese “.
