Mil Lel dairy was formed in 1911, named after a district north of Mt Gambier, South Australia. There have been a range of parent companies, including Kraft from 1951. Unfortunately Mil Lel parmesan was often referred to as ‘Kraft parmesan’ and wrongly linked with the infamous non refrigerated tin of ” parmesan “. Nothing could be further from the truth. Today Milel lel is known for their hard parmesan style cheeses. Although they can be purchased as grated shredded and shaved, It is only when the whole wheels are aged that you get the full flavour of these award winning cheeses.

Parmesan

Aged for 18 months the parmesan has a sharp, piquant flavour. The texture is slightly crumbly denoting its maturity, but it’s not dry and can also deliver a slight crunch as found in traditional Italian parmesan.
